Catriona Gray was born to an Australian father and a mother with Philippine roots on 6th January 1994 in Queensland, in the town of Cairns. Catriona Gray is no newbie in beauty contests.
Her beauty has attracted attention ever since she was born. As a five year old in 1999, she won a beauty contest Little Miss Philippines in Sydney. She’s won plenty of special prizes in 2016 in the contest Miss World Philippines 2016. She also appeared in the contest Miss World in the same year, where she ended up in TOP 5 finalists. She is the fourth Philippine that has won the title Miss Universe and the first Philippine who represented her country in both Miss World and Miss Universe contest.
- She studied Trinity Anglican School in Cairns. She received a certificate in Musical Theory at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. While at school, she was the lead singer of a jazz band and played in local productions of the musical Miss Saigon.
- When she finished high school, she moved to Manilla, the capital of Philippines, where she worked as a commercial model.
- She is also talented in the field of arts. She paints and she uses her paintings for raising money for the charity called Paraiso Bright Beginnings Project.
- At the same time, she has a black belt in the martial art Choi Kwang-Do, which she started practising when she was 8 years old.

- During the Miss Universe contest, Catriona Gray presented a national costume that symbolized indigenous tribes of ancient Philippines, together with a gigantic Christmas lantern. The costume was accompanied by a shaman dance.
