Donald Trump's controversial tariffs are the subject of criticism

Even before US President Donald Trump introduced a comprehensive package of tariffs on virtually every country in the world last week, Elon Musk unsuccessfully tried to dissuade him from this step. The Supreme Court has allowed the US president to temporarily enforce a law that allows officials to quickly deport immigrants.

Musk unsuccessful in asking US President to step back from high tariffs

The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, as a confidant of US President Donald Trump, tried to persuade the White House boss to back down from high tariffs, but he failed in his efforts. Musk, who owns companies such as Tesla, SpaceX, and social network X and who was chosen by Trump to lead the group for the effective management of public administration (DOGE), posted several posts about tariffs on the web over the weekend. In the posts, he criticized Trump's trade affairs adviser Peter Navarro, who is considered the architect of the president's tariff plans, and called for the creation of a duty-free zone between the European Union and the United States. Navarro then, following Musk's comments, called him a car assembler who relies on parts from other countries, said Ceskenoviny.cz.

Supreme Court Allows Trump to Enforce Law for Rapid Deportations

The Supreme Court allowed US President Donald Trump to temporarily enforce a law that will allow officials to quickly deport immigrants. This is one of the most closely watched appeals being considered by the Supreme Court, CNN noted. The court also emphasized that in the future, people who are deported should receive notice that they are subject to this act. In a social media post, Trump wrote that the decision constitutes "a great day for justice in America".

Serbian President Vucic selects a new Prime Minister

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has appointed 62-year-old endocrinologist and university professor Djuro Macut, who critics claim is politically inexperienced, as prime minister. This comes amidst massive protests that forced the previous prime minister to resign. The focus of the protests is the president's authoritarian stance and government corruption. Opposition parties have rejected this nomination with the argument that Macut will be subordinate to Vucic, who is trying to maintain his 12-year control of the country, reported Al Jazeera.
