When Mandrage came forward with the announcement that they would withdraw and stop performing for a while, it came to light that the singer Víťa Starý is currently going through difficult times and needs some time and support, because hard drugs are holding him in their clutches. This news was a pretty big blow for the Czech show business. But Víťa is not the only famous artist to fight a similar battle. Here is a brief overview of other celebrities that couldn't handle their fame and success.

Whitney Houston

When the career of the singer whose voice could make the heavens cry took a sharp rise in the 1980s, no one foresaw that she would meet a tragic end due to addictive substances one day. The artist's limp body was found in the bathtub in February 2012, with a bottle of champagne and a spoon with white powder lying nearby. A few weeks later, the autopsy report confirmed that Whitney's drowning was due to heart failure caused by excessive use of cocaine and other drugs. The singer was only 48 years old.

Macaulay Culkin

We can't even imagine Christmas without Kevin today. The actor, known from Home Alone 1 and Home Alone 2, was considered the brightest star of the silver screen after the release of the movies. Who knows where this blond boy star would be today, if his success and fame hadn't literally ground him down. His childhood wasn't a walk in the park, and although many would have liked to swap with him, Culkin was never interested in fame and longed to live a happy and peaceful life like any ordinary man. During his adolescence, he became addicted to drugs and despite several rehabilitation treatments, he's still not quite out of the vicious circle and narcotics keep negatively affecting his life.

Lindsay Lohan

Another star whose stellar career took off in her childhood is Lindsay Lohan. The red-haired beauty had to go to court repeatedly because of excessive alcohol and drug use, and she also went into rehab multiple times. A couple of her party photos have been circulating around, in which the actress is literally unrecognizable. Although film directors foresaw a great career for her, Lindsay couldn't handle her fame. The young woman has recently calmed down quite a bit, but she must have certainly wondered at least once on which new movies and with which big stars she could be working today, if she hadn't strayed off the right path.

Amy Winehouse

An extravagant, arresting diva that managed to shock people not only with her image, but mainly with her velvet voice. The winner of five Grammy Awards was constantly appearing in all kinds of media during her life. Unfortunately, the main topic was her addiction to drugs and alcohol. In 2011, she was found dead in her apartment at only 27 years of age. Although there is still a controversy as to whether the blame for her untimely passing should fall on drugs or alcohol alone, one thing is certain. We'll never hear another big hit, such as the song Back to Black, from her again.

"Čágo, bélo šílenci!" In the 1990s, the blonde presenter welcomed her fans with this greeting every week in the music charts, until she became addicted to pervitin and later heroin. She withdrew from public life for several years and went through multiple rehabs. Nowadays, she speaks openly about her addiction and the harm of drugs, giving strength and courage to people who want to jump out of the same fast moving train.
