To have a pair of shoes by Manolo Blahnik or Christian Louboutin in your closet must be the dream of every lover of luxury, beauty, sexy style or fan of Sex and the City. This show ensured that even women who had never heard the name Manolo Blahnik became aware of his heavenly shoes.
There is no doubt that the legendary Manolo Blahnik, who boasts Czech roots, knows how to conjure up absolutely brilliant shoes. We could see this for ourselves at last year’s Art of Shoes exhibition at Prague’s Kampa Museum, at which the designer presented the best of his work. Among the exhibited treasures were the unique shoes from the Denim Desserts collection, created in cooperation with Barbados-born rebel Rihanna. And it certainly isn’t his only luxurious collaboration! Together with the Bulgari brand, Manolo recently created a pair of luxurious shoes made of green satin with gems around the ankles.
High living with a substantial dose of self-denial, that’s how you could summarise a day spent in a pair of luxurious shoes by French designer Christiana Louboutin. Many of his designs feature extremely high heels, thanks to which your legs will be a few inches longer, but in which your feet will soon be yearning for comfort. But women are capable of surviving even the worst pain just to wear these divine shoes with the iconic red soles.
Like Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin also has his unique pieces. These include a quartet of futuristic pumps made in cooperation with Disney and Lucasfilm to celebrate the last episode of Star Wars – The Last Jedi. The luxurious shoes are inspired by the main female characters.
Manolo Blahnik is often worn by Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Anna Wintour. On the other hand, Christiana Louboutin is favoured by Angelina Jolie, Eva Longoria, Gwyneth Paltrow, Heidi Klum, Emily Blunt, Kendall Jenner and Lady Gaga.
In terms of comfort, it’s Manolo Blahnik. In terms of sensuality, it’s Christian Louboutin. In terms of style, it’s both! But every showdown should have one winner. Therefore, it is up to you to decide which to today’s kings will place the imaginary crown on their head. Blahnik, Louboutin, Blahnik, Louboutin... it’s as tough as Sophie’s Choice. So consider it carefully. It is a matter of shoes, after all!
