The theme of introverted sexuality punctuates almost the entire luxury collection for SS19. It is inspired by the erotically-charged film, Emanuelle from the 1970's the subtext of which conveyed a message for women to focus on their sexuality. This topic is, in conjunction with the ongoing campaigns of Me Too or Time's Up all the more sensitive.
In his SS19 collection, Roland Mouret defines sensuality, bravery, ownership and individuality in a way that strengthens the position of women. One of these women who became inspiration to the designer is also Emma Gonzalez. She is a young American activist and campaigner for arms control, who in 2018 survived the shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School.
The French designer presented luxury romantic models which are lighter than air, enjoying the freedom of movement, playing with the materials and styles. In the SS19 collection you can find romantic floating dresses sensuously revealing the shoulders, elegant suits, pieces of translucent fabrics, luxurious and stylish wraps and blouses or trousers with trouser-legs wider than in times of their greatest glory!
In the question of colours, Roland Mouret reached not only for the classics, but also tender pastel colours and, which is a shame, for the frequently-neglected pea green. The luxury models are supplemented by necklaces, brooches and badges produced in cooperation with artist Mehrnoosh Khadivi from Craftwork Studios.
All models perfectly resonate together and the luxury SS19 collection is thus not only a feast for the eyes, but also for the soul. The collection with a certain message is full of charm, every time...
Roland Mouret and his SS19 collection is full of opposing views. There is a mention of inspiration by the first erotic film, where in my opinion a woman is really taken only as a sexual object, then there is the girl who survived a terrorist attack and finally the over-exposed campaign Me Too, which finally turns against its initiator, Asia Argent. Actually, in the end she acknowledged her own relations with a minor.
But let us go back to the collection itself. At first sight it seems as though it was put together by a cat and a dog. All sorts of patterns in conjunction with wild cuts and the like. But then there are a few pieces that look purely as innocence itself. Definitely the white overall with a very deep V-shaped neckline. For work? If you do not want to be "a poor dear" from Me Too, then not for a business party either. But if you are going to a hot date and red seems to you to be a little ordinary, this will hit the mark.
And the absolute flop of the collection ... the model consisting of light blue sweatpants with an elastic band at the waist in combination with a metallic shirt. Anything with an elastic waist is simply hellish, always. So please avoid these fashion creations by a wide arch.
