Summer has not yet knocked on the door, and thanks to Paris Fashion Week, we clearly know what we will wear in autumn and winter. The catwalk brought a colorful palette of trends and new cuts that will dominate the fashion scene in the upcoming season. Designers have been inspired not only by history but also by modern streetwear, creating once again a perfect mix of elegance and tradition. There was also a clear demonstration of the progressive approach to fashion, which is always a great inspiration.
Things are happening at Paris Fashion Week this year! As astrologers predicted that 2025 would be a time when we would return to ourselves and to our desires, in the same spirit the message from the fashion world carries. In addition to trends dominated by elegance and the desire to be seen, brands indicate that it is necessary to pay attention to individuality and personal preferences. It seems that we are slowly leaving a world dominated by strict trends!
For example, Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri introduced a collection inspired by Virginia Woolf's novel Orlando this year. The models she prepared for the runway, she wanted to break the boundaries between male and female clothing. Although in recent years we have seen that women like to dress also purely male pieces, the opposite does not work very well. Men often fear wearing something that is perceived as purely female. And it's a shame!
Dior is about to change that and the show, which took place on a stage reminding of a prehistoric landscape, pointed out that the stereotypes we now hold did not apply in the past. And nothing prevents us from reopening our cabinets to fantasy. What else might inspire you to change your wardrobe?
This year, Dior is returning to its iconic elements, such as the bar jacket or the classic white shirt. Timeless elegance never goes out of fashion and some pieces are simply worth having in the closet every year. Apart from other brands that bet on extravagance and striking elements, Dior sticks to its principles and shows that you can be noticeable even in neutral tones.
On the other hand, it was confirmed this year that even street fashion can have a touch of luxury. One of the most discussed were Adidas Firebird sweatpants, which were often combined with luxury pieces. Comfortable and casual wear is becoming an increasingly integral part of the fashion world and belongs in the closet of even the biggest lover of luxury fashion. With the Adidas brand, this trend has been visible for a long time. In its collections, for some time now, it has been offering, for example, tracksuits, which follow current fashion trends - for example, wide bell-bottom trousers. Pieces from the Adidas brand also dominated Fashion Week in New York in large measure. It seems that the brand is catching its second wind and is becoming a love brand again, although in past years it might have seemed that it was losing to the popular competitor Nike.
In Paris, Sarah Burton also made her debut, the former creative director of the Alexander McQueen brand, with her first collection for Givenchy. Her designs were characterized by sharp lines, refined cuts, and dramatic details. One of the biggest surprises of this year's fashion week in Paris, however, remains the Zomer brand, which focused on sustainability. The collection was inspired by elements of nature. It uses organic materials with zero carbon footprint.
The show thus featured clothing made from recycled fibers, which can be an inspiration in the future for a new standard of ecological fashion. This is becoming an increasingly popular topic and it is expected that ecology and the fashion industry will go hand in hand in the future - as much as possible. On the other hand, Zomer is not afraid to experiment with forms and cuts, easily attracting the attention of those present. And he wasn't the only one. The Undercover show also went well, celebrating its 35th anniversary with a collection full of sequins, balloons and a collaboration with the Champion brand or Alaïa, which introduced an avant-garde collection inspired by sculptural art under the leadership of Pieter Mulier.
In the coming days, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, anticipated Baleciaga or Alexandr McQueen will also be presented.
Paris Fashion Week brings an important message. Fashion will increasingly be about individuality and crossing boundaries between formal and casual style. We can expect more frequent collaborations of sports brands with luxury ones, streetwear becomes an integral part of prestigious events.
Quality cuts never go out of fashion and following the trend of the Zomer brand, it can be assumed that ecology will have the main say in the field of fashion in the future. And it can be just as sophisticated as traditional haute couture.
Whether you choose an iconic coat inspired by history, casual sporty shirts combined with sports elements or crazy extravagance, there is room for it in the upcoming season. Because it will evidently be about expressing the individual, about what suits you, emphasizes the advantages and hides the imperfections - and last but not least, what makes you feel really good.
We'll see what the next days in Paris bring. You can draw inspiration until March 11, 2025, when Paris awaits the grand finale of fashion week.
