The Fondazione complex was really a great choice for the organising of the long-awaited Prada Autumn/Winter fashion show. The space was simply beautiful, clean, minimalist and boasting of awesome views of illuminated city of Milan, which, just like most cities, looked simply irresistibly romantic at night time. This accentuated the sophisticated atmosphere of the show, when on the catwalk finally appeared models in luxuriously bold models.
The luxurious FW 2018 fashion show started with dark colours in combination with neon tulle that lent the clothing an entirely different dimension and accent. The prevailing element were jackets, coats, skirts, but also dresses of fine shiny black fabric to which neon colours added flair and life. Simple black colour of the clothes thus turned them into unique items with attractive details. Gradually, tulle appeared on the models more and more - in several styles. The translucent fabric gave the models a great dose of sophistication and extravagance, which was slightly outrageous, but irresistible at the same time.
In autumn and winter 2018 we can therefore look forward to vibrant, fine, but also coarse materials and the still trendy oversize style. The Prada FW 2018 collection also showed unstructured jackets, which no one will probably wear any time soon. Not only is the cut shapeless, perhaps too ´sporty´, but also its neoprene material looks very odd. Several of them had a striking velcro strip fastening at the neck, too. But when the catwalk was taken up by models in checked jackets with shorter but also longer sleeves with luxurious leather details, we felt greatly relieved. A great shock was a fashionable unstructured leather jacket with colourful furry decoration which was really astonishing.
The collection attracted our attention by many beautifully luxurious details to which we have to devote more space than usual in our today´s article. We liked that every model was accompanied by higher socks, giving the outfits chic and stylish air. Such an accessory is not for everyone, but this trend is stunning, particularly when well combined. Another notable element was recycled material that is now a popular feature in the world of fashion. It was used to create tassels, skirts, dresses, but also tops.
The neon-coloured wilderness of Prada took me quite by surprise. Certainly, the environment of the fashion show was amazing but the models themselves looked a bit like a selection of rags from Salvation Army…. Definitely not like items whose prices move within the same range as a smaller city car.
Worst of all were in my view the neon-coloured inflated pseudo-vests, always accompanied by same-shade kind of hats. OMG even life jackets on board of plane look better! This had to be put together by someone under powerful medication, otherwise I don´t understand.
However, not to be too negative; I found one that could be worn even here, on the planet Earth. That would be the shiny black dress with a turquoise tulle underskirt. Even those satchel-like high heels with nylon socks oddly enough go with it. Something like that could be worn for example for a visit to Fashion Week - the front row even...but not really to normal meetings in the city.
