Pirelli Calendar 2018: Alice in Wonderland as Never Seen Before!
English photographer Tim Walker took pictures of 18 protagonists from the world of fashion, movies and music for this year’s Pirelli Calendar. As the topic of the 45th edition was Alice in Wonderland, you can look forward to a spectacular and colorful image!
Imagination knows no bounds. Tim Walker demonstrated that imagination knows no bounds. You won’t be able to take your eyes off the photographs full of life, colors and energy. Even more so because they feature famous celebrities with black roots. This is only the second time this has happened throughout the existence of this legendary calendar – the first time was in 1987 when the calendar featured 5 black models including Naomi Campbell.
Who visited the world of imagination?
The famous celebrities include actress Whoopi Goldberg, model Naomi Campbell, Australian model Adut Akech, feminist activist and model Adwoa Aboah from Ghana and Senegalese-German model Alpha Dia.
All of them were dressed in luxurious Alice in Wonderland-themed costumes by the stylist and current editor in chief of British Vogue Edward Enninful. For example, actor and activist Djimon Houson appeared as the King of Hearts and actor, singer and composer RuPal as the Queen of Hearts. Whoopi Goldberg represented the Duchess and model Thando Hopa the Princess of Hearts.
The new American model with roots in South Sudan Duckie Thot was probably the biggest surprise for the photographer. She did an amazing job as Alice.
“This calendar is a dream job. It is something I imagined I could do in about 5 years, not sooner,” said Duckie Thod about her dream that came true sooner than expected.
The whole team worded hard on this calendar to bring a message of variety, diversity and of integration that works great in the world of imagination.
The pictures were taken in London in May this year and the calendar contains a total of 28 pictures.
Pirelli Calendar is an exclusive, not for sale calendar with artistic pictures of celebrities from the world of fashion, music and movies. It is published every year since 1964.
