Finally! Although the weather isn't exactly inviting, Prague's Petynka Swimming Pool is welcoming its first guests. It may have opened with a 1-month delay due to the coronavirus, but its new look more than makes up for that. Since February, work has been underway in its premises not only on the new swimming pool, but also on the facilities. Everything shines like new here. The reconstruction cost about 30 million crowns.
The gates opened to visitors with great glory today, July 17, at seven o'clock in the morning. Incoming people will immediately notice a brand new pool, tiles, waders, benches, a place for sunbathing or a pool under the water slide.
“The pool had to be renovated because the foil there was already very old. Once it was removed, the whole bottom had to be concreted and new foundation laid. The stainless steel strips that came on top were imported from Italy, so the whole reconstruction was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we had to wait for the borders to open,"
the head of the complex, Ondřej Renský, explained to LP-life.cz, adding that heavy equipment was also employed in the premises. The 50-meter pool tub cost a little under 27 million crowns, and another four million were needed to repair the facilities.
"Everything is new, replaced, the air conditioning hidden in the ceiling, I think visitors will certainly notice and appreciate it,"
Although the reconstruction costs were higher than 30 million crowns, the entrance fee will reportedly remain the same, i.e. 160 crowns for the whole day. Seniors over 70 from Prague 6 have free entry, and so do children under the age of three. This season, the visitors can look forward to all forms of entertainment, such as an aquazorbing pool or ping-pong tables.
There's a small catch though: the capacity of the object. According to government regulations, no more than a thousand people can enter the complex at once. Therefore, if you want to enjoy this luxury bathing, it's a good idea to check the online capacity of the swimming pool before you head there.
"We are really looking forward to when Petynka opens, the kids can hardly wait. We live nearby and commuting to another swimming pool is a bother,"
