Before we get into what the Outsiders Division show was about, it's probably a good idea to introduce the brand first.
The Outsiders Division was founded in 2012 by Spanish artists David Méndez, Albert Perancho and Ales Gallifa. Together they look for inspiration for their collections in cult films, underground graffiti, and the punk movement. So you can already imagine what their collections probably offer. It's a mixture of crazy models and generally unwearable outfits.
When the show began, the faces of all the visitors to the Clam-Callas palace lit up. People were smiling over the mad models, but they were also entertained by the dance moves the models performed on the catwalk. Sometimes we asked ourselves whether we were really at the fashion week or at a circus.
As the designers themselves claim, the luxurious SS 19 collection is a unique manifest of how to dress for special occasions. But we cannot imagine which one. Is it a festival? The first outfit that opened the show caught our attention. A furry orange coat, a naked body decorated with a purple bag, pink sweat pants and a blue hat. Where do you wear such a thing?
Here it is clearly visible that the designers make fashion for joy, but certainly not to be worn. They combine all kinds of patterns like stripes, cubes, animal patterns, and inscriptions. In addition, there are also different materials, styles and cuts. At one point it looked as if someone had picked up everything from lost and found and wore it all at once. The oddest piece was probably a violet hat with flowers that may be appreciated by little children during play, but no adult would ever put on anything like that.
Although the SS 19 Outsiders Division collection was crazy, famous personalities saved it with their luxurious outfits. Beautiful brunette Michael Štoudková looked like a Greek goddess, Nikol Trojanová fascinated us with her French style and Kaira Hrachovcová with a minimalist outfit. Jana Stryková, who wore a long dress with lace, also looked great. Berenika Kohoutová arrived in a lace top and caught us off guard with her naked make-up. Jitka Nováčková, on the other hand, chose the perfect luxury street style, combining a skirt, jacket and short top with a fanny pack and sneakers.
The Outsiders Division knew very well why they chose this name for themselves. I will not keep you hanging for a long time. This fashion show was a clear showcase of scrapped rags from the 90's that had arrived at the Salvation Army. There they were then divided between people whose sanity I would doubt and boom...that is the end!
Yes, I get it, every fashion week has its crazy collection. The times when it was only about elegant and wearable fashion are long gone. Hello, we do not live in the 1950s in the middle of Paris! And we are certainly not witnessing another Christian Dior collection.
