The second most important race sport event, the 99th Czech Derby, took place on Saturday in Velká Chuchle. As some of you probably know, since my childhood I have been riding and I absolutely love horses! When I got the opportunity to join the Czech Derby with a visit to the newly opened Derby Club Prague, I couldn't resist! I invite you for a little tour.
The Derby Club Prague is located on the second floor of the main building and offers luxuriously furnished seating areas, a grandstand right above the finish line of the racecourse, top catering and, most importantly, its own betting terminal.
If you want to have access here, you can buy a one-day ticket with a table reservation for 2 800 CZK (children for 1 800 CZK) or a full table for one year with six places for 210 000 CZK. If you go to races only occasionally but expect a high standard, this is the right place!
I was trying the betting terminal all day. Result? It's like in a casino: with the win, the taste grows, and then you are happy to end up with at least zero!
The races happen every half hour and there are about eight per day. Before each of them you have the opportunity to see the horses live in the paddock under the Derby Club terrace. This was ideal from my point of view, because I never bet without seeing the horses! As I say, statistics are mostly tricky ...
It takes a couple of minutes, but you can get what I get: the lady behind the counter was extremely slow and I lost not only the bet, but also the win I would have won.
So I recommend: register in advance!
Of course I also have information about dress code for you. I opted for a red-blue-black luxury tweed dress and a beret headband with subtle feathers. I got it here in Chuchle in the past, so you don't have to look for hats and headbands in advance! Choose shoes with closed toe.
And gentlemen? Always a suit, even during the hot summer! Unfortunately, there were also those who arrived in rubber flip-flops, shorts and faded baseball caps on their heads. However, in “Derby Club Prague” that cannot happen fortunately!
