We all want something. The tallest building, the richest kingdom, the most modern transport... simply the BEST. Architects from all over the world jump somersaults to make the world interested in their project. To have their name carved into stone so that something remains after them. In times of heat, the idea of water easily. So next year London will have a real unique summer. An infinity rooftop pool on the 55th floor of a skyscraper.
We applaud! At a time when the world is plagued by drought in the summer, the Brits fill the roof of a newly built luxury hotel with 600,000 litres of water! But everyone will want to take a bath, even us! A panoramic view of all of London from 220 meters, down the waist in the water with a glass of champagne in your hand - a luxury that everyone would love.
The rooftop pool is to be built in a precise line with a concrete finish, it should not have any visible boundaries, which sounds like sci-fi. Already from the picture you have to wonder how to climb into and out of it. Above all, it should give the impression that the water on the roof will held miraculously.
However, this is physically impossible and water has to be held by something. Compass Pools has chosen invisible acrylic walls that will reach a height of about 1.5 meters. The bottom will also be created on an invisible basis, offering a view of the swimmers from below, which would imitate a visit to the aquarium in a zoo. So take your swimsuit with you and no nudity. You never know who will watch...
The biggest challenge for Compass Pools, however, was how to enter the pool. Stairs and elevator are out of the question, it would have to be on the side, and that would spoil the overall impression of a clean line. The team decided to build a unique pressurized door that submarines have. From there, the spiral staircase steps up directly to the surface, through which people get into or climb out of the pool.
Then there was still a problem with the water that could spill out of the pool onto passers-by on the street if some water fights happened in the water. The company that took the project, however, has a special system to prevent it.
Along with this, it is also going to integrate an anemometer to measure the speed of the air (wind) and technology for heating water directly from the vapours of air conditioning in hotel rooms, including a system for monitoring the optimal temperature. As for the construction itself, the five-star hotel with this futuristic pool should start growing next year. We are curious how much this bathing will cost and whether they will sell membership cards.
