The aim of the project is primarily to achieve a modern representative look of the building with a unique space for exhibitions without disrupting the history of the building. The minimalist design was created by Míková in cooperation with Matyáš Cigler, Martin Surovec, Dominika Balanová and graphic designer Miroko Moroko. Their team was the victorious one out of four projects.

Minimalism and history

“The choice of materials is based on respect for the original architecture and the effort to interfere with it as little as possible. We have used primarily surfaces that already existed in the anteroom. Objects placed in the space are covered by a polished brass sheet with a mirror effect. The contents of the exhibition are carried by backlit panels with gold-tinted glass to form a monolithic unit with the brass plate. Photo attachments are printed on the glass in black and the texts on the next layer of glass are white, so as to be highlighted by the backlight. The brass sheet also covers the pedestal and the table in the lounges," said Lenka Míková about the material selection in her design.

The realization of the luxury premises will take place at the end of this year.

The contest was announced as closed and one-round and ran from November 2018 to February 2019. Sketch money for all participants was 20.000 CZK. The winning studio received a contract to design the luxury interior of the Rudolfinum entrance area worth 180,000 CZK.

Just like every year, the Open House Prague festival aims to make luxury Prague architecture accessible to the widest possible public.

"Getting to know the buildings, their architecture and stories is the first step to waking people's interest in the city and its public space," says festival director Andrea Šenkyříková.

The first Open House Prague festival took place in 2015 and within four years, it has already managed to open 192 buildings. 185 000 inhabitants of Prague, other parts of the country and tourists from abroad visited the festival.

This year the festival will open a total of 38 buildings for the very first time!

Among them, you can find the representative premises of the Hrzánský and Lichtenštejnský Palace buildings, the Štenc House in the Old Town or the House of Agricultural Enlightenment at Náměstí Míru, to name a few.

A novelty of the festival is a section of green buildings, in which you will be able to see the new administrative building Visionary in Holešovice or the luxurious office and commercial building DOCK IN TWO, which grew up in the vicinity of the blind arms of Vltava in Libeň.

The next section also includes buildings owned by the city, which are currently looking for their future use.

The Great Strahov Stadium is one of them.

“We’ve been trying for the Great Strahov Stadium since the beginning of the festival. It is the largest stadium in the world, part of which is listed (its bleachers). In 2014, it was passed on to the capital city of Prague and now a debate has been opened about the possible future use of not only the stadium, but the entire area in its vicinity. We would like the festival to awaken people's interest in its future fate," adds Andrea Šenkyříková.

A complete list of buildings and thematic routes will be published on the Mapy.cz portal before the beginning of the festival. The festival enables to filter the buildings according to various criteria. You can purchase a festival guide containing a map, information and interviews with contemporary personalities from the world of architecture. The guide will be available at the festival information center one week before the event.

• General Pension Institute, today the Radost House, in Žižkov, nicknamed the "first Prague skyscraper"
