Fashion and nature hand in hand
Vivienne Westwood definitely doesn’t let herself be held back by nature, and she doesn’t fret about the kind of impact the fashion industry has. The ecologically thinking designer uses fashion as a form of activism, and tries to enforce the meaning of sustainable fashion. In her eyes, what is important isn’t quantity, but quality, and she tries to draw attention to that fact with the most crazy ways. What is most important is to be eye-catching. And this designer’s collection definitely is!
From graffiti to tartan
The FW 19/20 collection is rich in bold and geometric elements. Including wild graffiti, ranging in various colours, elegant stripes, small checkers, or traditional tartan. Vivienne Westwood was not afraid to experiment when it came to materials either.
Glossy silk or wool? Why not!
A peach coloured social garment from shiny silk, which were a feat in itself, were complemented by the designer with grey knitted hand coverings! Within the collection, the other outfits consisted of traditional wool, timeless denim, elegant tweed or luxury velvet.

Oh, Vivienne Westwood. The new collection once again brought a lot of unanswered questions.
What exactly did the artist intend to say? And do we have to deal with all this? By that I mean, Vivienne’s indecision about who she is, whether more underground or hippie...
Grey sweatpants with a huge sweater down to the knees, which is ‘decorated’ by graffiti... In my opinion horrible, and brings nothing to the fashion industry. Even our wall painter had a better ‘decorated’ outfit! And we even paid him!
However! I found one outfit, which I truly like. And that is the evening peach coloured corset dress with see-through sandals on heels, which were worn by the grey haired old woman at the end (I’m omitting the cement grey knitwear on her elbow). Fresh, feminine and sexy... Vivienne had to really be out of it when she designed this, because it’s so beautiful.
