You had never imagined that you would once wear slippers from cellotape, badminton shuttlecocks, polystyrene foam or perhaps a soccer ball, had you? Welcome to the 21st century, where nothing is impossible. Nicole McLaughlin - a young designer for Reebok Classics, creates such unconventional pieces and plays with her imagination and talent in her free time.
The young designer decided to start using some materials for a purpose other than the one they were originally made for. Under her hands, luxurious futuristic pieces emerg as if from a science fiction movie or crazy comedy.
What do you think, will we see the day when we will regularly walk around the pool in colorful slippers from balloons?
Nicole McLaughlin does not deny that she creates unusual footwear primarily for amusement and the expression of her ideas. While she has to adhere to certain rules and conventions during the creation of a luxury collection for Reebok, here she is free to experiment.
"I encourage people to keep an open mind when looking at my projects and not take them too seriously! I really love the idea of personal projects and I root for everyone who does them, whether they are a designer or not. It's a form of self satisfaction in which no one can tell you that you are wrong because it is yours!"
What do you think about the non-traditional shoes? Are you inspired by Nicole McLaughlin and will you attempt your first model in 2019? If so, don‘t forget...imagination has no limit. Collect whatever is lying around the house and awaken your creative genius!
