Jan Černý was the only designer at MBPFW who decided to organise his show in a public space – at Letná Park. This allowed every fan and proponent of Czech fashion to take a look at the new SS19 collection. And there was plenty to see indeed!
While at the last Prague Fashion Week, the young designer presented his luxurious FW18 collection full of horrific spiders coming out of mouths, this time he opted for a more decent alternative. He left the scary props behind and present luxurious street style outfits.
A year ago now, Kim Jones, still in the position of creative director for Louis Vuitton at the time, tried to convince the fashion world that neoprene is the next hot material. Apparently, he may have succeeded. Jan Černý also opted for this unconventional material to create trousers and shorts which are sure to draw people’s attention.
In addition to neoprene garments, the SS19 collection also includes timeless overalls with backpacks, sporty fanny packs and travel bags, tie-dyed shirts, tops, swimsuits, sweatshirts and jackets, cotton t-shirts or stylish coats.
Before Jan Černý appeared in person to thunderous applause at the end of his fashion show, he sent all the models to take another turn on the runway topless. Following the luxurious Tereza Vu lingerie collection, the ladies thus also had an unexpected treat at the end.
Résumé? A luxurious show that belonged to the best we’ve seen so far at MBPFW!
Jan Černý presented a collection at Letná Park that is fairly wearable and does not offend. Nevertheless, we must admit from the outset that it is really nothing ground-breaking or world-class.
After a more thorough inspection of the garments, I kept wondering what they remind me of. Finally, I figured it out. The Prada FW18 men’s collection. That’s where we’ve already seen loads of various tags hanging from clothing, or every imagine shoulder bag, which was last “in” at the start of the millennium. Not to mention the neoprene trousers and shorts, which I saw a YEAR AGO from designer Thom Browne. By the way, his neoprene suit retails for 85,500 CZK. Jan Černý can only dream about that.
But to avoid being so critical, I did find a few items that I liked. For instance, the black sweatshirt and shorts splattered with white paint. NUNUNU sells the same thing on Amazon for 500 CZK with a discount, but I think it’s a cool combination for strolling around the city somewhere.
