Every little girl in her childhood must have wondered what it’s like to become a mermaid for at least a moment. It’s never too late to make these luxurious dreams come true. This is why I decided to fulfil my dream and I gifted myself a wonderful experience for International Women’s Day. For a little while, I was transformed into a mermaid.
If somebody had told me a week ago that I would turn into the little mermaid, I wouldn’t believe it. But when I heard that our colleague is doing an interview with Aneta Janovská, the founder of mermaiding in the Czech Republic, an opportunity arose to try a unique experience – swimming with a scaly fin. I decided I simply have to try it out. As a little girl, I loved the story about The Little Mermaid, and transforming into her was a dream come true. Aneta arranged a lesson for me at Aquapalace.
Although it may seem at first glance that swimming with a tail is easy, the opposite is true. When you put the fin on, you suddenly no longer have the two legs you’re used to, but just one. Both of them are connected into one and finished off with an adorable heart-shaped fin. An experienced professional showed me how to move correctly, but I didn’t manage to swim anywhere. What can I say? As soon I entered the water, I was shocked at how difficult it is. I splashed around like a fish on dry land, before I understood how I’m supposed to move. The movement involves the entire body and you really have to make a ripple motion to become an exquisitely beautiful mermaid. I’m not sure if I succeeded in the end, but I’m thrilled that I was able to try it out, because the feeling of swimming with a fin is truly magical and unforgettable.
As I mentioned above, the movement involves the whole body, strengthening your core. This makes swimming with a fin a very demanding activity, which is loads of fun and allows you to strengthen weakened muscles. If you want to be a luxurious mermaid, don’t hesitate and try it out!
