The Volvo XC40 is the 2018 Car of the Year!
The following luxurious cars were nominated this year: Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Audi A8, BMW 5-Series, Citroën C3 Aircross, Kia Stinger, Seat Ibiza and Volvo XC40. But only one can win. Last year it was the Peugeot 3008, and this year Volvo finally succeeded!
Volvo wins the prestigious award after several vain attempts
The CEO of Volvo, Hakan Samuelsson, said that it’s fantastic that after several repeated attempts to win the prestigious award, it is finally in the hands of the Volvo brand this year. He also mentioned the vain attempt of the Volvo XC90 to win the award three years ago.
The Volvo XC40 is a compact SUV with car sharing technology, which eliminates the need to hand over the keys. It is a brand new platform and in many regards represents the future of Volvo itself.
“Volvo is entering a new segment, and this is very important for us,” says Hakan Samuelsson.
The presentation of this luxurious award officially opens this year’s Geneva Motor Show!
