Transparent material and subtle colours are key characteristics of the luxurious new Victoria Beckham SS 2018 collection. Not only are the designs interesting, but at the same time very simple. Victoria focused on transparent fabrics which look very original and lend the outfit panache. Beckham also made a good move with colours, dominated by yellow, pink, violet, mint green, but also peach. The most basic colours such as black, white and beige are however also included and Victoria did of course also use the modern and luxurious red.
The thing we like about the whole collection is its imaginativeness. Victoria combined two materials when using transparent fabrics. Bottom layers are mostly blouses in various designs. One is a blouse reaching down to the knees with long sleeves and a see-through and light skirt on top of this, emphasising both materials. Another is a luxurious and interesting dress, again using a blouse as the base layer, but this time without sleeves. Thanks to the top layer, the dress looks elegant and stylish.
The SS 2018 collection offers several different styles and really does have something for everyone. This is to say that this concerns extremely feminine clothing, emphasising graceful curves and, thanks to asymmetrical cut-outs, the designs even look slightly provocative. We have here luxury dresses, or trousers and a blouse which you will find in black and white. We then also have the so-called men’s style which you can recognise by the baggier trousers, longer shirts and jacket. Women who love patterns are also catered for. These are of course represented here by modern checked patterns which look just fantastic in combination with other fabrics.
In view of the fact that Victoria is partial to a luxurious and simple style, we were surprised by her use of romantic frills. They look luxurious not only on trousers and blouses, but also on dresses where they create a luxurious roll-neck.
The thing I like about Victoria Beckham is that she has achieved success even though people laughed at her at the start of her design career. It is a great sort of satisfaction to note that you have been going your own way in the fashion industry for thirteen years already. However, this time the S/S 2018 collection seems a little stiff and boring to me.
It is the sort of fashion which is best suited to a parents’ evening at your child’s school or for having tea with your grandmother. If you want to look chic, you can only use the final black dress with plunging neckline and long sleeves from the collection. I don’t want to say that it is only about that neckline, not at all (even the creamy gold dress with white trousers looks good), but the rest of it? I would say only one thing to myself: I would only wear that if I wanted my husband to start cheating on me!
So only wear this collection if you want to get rid of your other half – FOR GOOD!
