Farmers who are protesting across Europe today are particularly bothered by the trade agreement between the EU and the South American states of the Mercosur association, and duty-free imports from Ukraine. Lee Zeldin, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, fears that the Donald Trump administration will reconsider scientific findings that greenhouse gases and the associated global warming threaten public health and well-being.
Czech farmers will join European protests against food imports from countries outside the European Union with hundreds of tractors today. They will protest throughout the Czech Republic and at the borders, farmers will not come to Prague. Some farmers will take heavy machinery on the roads, others plan demonstrations in squares or debates with citizens and politicians. At border crossings, farmers will meet with protesting farmers from neighbouring countries. The farmers are particularly irritated by the trade agreement between the EU and the South American countries of the Mercosur association and duty-free imports from Ukraine, because according to them, farmers in these countries do not have to comply with strict standards as in the EU, the server Ceskenoviny.cz reported.
Lee Zeldin, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, had urged President Donald Trump's administration to reassess scientific findings that greenhouse gases and the associated global warming threaten public health and prosperity. The 2009 finding is the legal basis for a number of climate regulations for motor vehicles, power plants, and other pollution sources. A spokesperson for the agency refused to confirm that this recommendation, which was made last week based on an executive order from Trump, had taken place, reports the AP agency.
