They scheme, do harm and manipulate everyone around them, yet they belong to the most prominent characters that many viewers immediately recall. It goes without saying that not only do antagonists give a TV show extra spice, but they also make it realistic, because one meets all sorts of people in life, not just the good sort. Come with LP-Life.com and have a look at the baddest TV show bitches, portrayed by well-known actresses who are very likeable in real life. They gave our editorial staff an exclusive view of how it feels to play a negative character. Some of them also revealed what the audience can look forward to!
The ageless actress Dana Batulková has played many successful roles in her career. Recently, viewers have grown to like her in the most popular TV series Slunečná, where she portrays the character of the calculating bitch Lída Vacková, whose plotting often backfires on her. The whole village ignores the former mayor, she gets fired, and to add insult to injury, her infidelity and biological fatherhood of Štěpán come to light. As Dana Batulková herself told us, she enjoys portraying negative characters very much, and it's a job she's genuinely excited about.
"As a positive person, I'm glad to be able to play such a bitch, it's always far more fun than playing positive characters. Lída is such a she-wolf, but I think deep inside she's actually a very good person who puts the wellbeing of her family first. She often uses inadequate means to do so, due to which you sometimes want to kill her."
In the last episode, Lída Vacková stated that she was determined to correct her mistakes, and the popular actress revealed to us if the former mayor meant her words seriously:
"After the affair with Štěpán has come to light, Lída is in a tight spot, everyone rejects her, which gives her all the time to question her conscience and behaviour towards other people, including her family. She will change for the better and the relationship with her father in law will become warmer, but how long she'll keep it up is hard to tell."
In the popular series Slunečná, Barbora Jánová represents the older sister of Týna, Sylva Popelková, a gold-digger who thinks only of herself. You would definitely not want a sibling like her. She left her daughter Barunka on the farm that she wanted to get rid of after her father's death. And that her behaviour could hurt someone? The egoistic Sylva doesn't give a damn about that. Later on, however, she marries Lída's son and her sister's former fiancé for money, only to find out he can be quite abusive, and finally begins to reconsider a thing or two. She even takes a decisive step and terminates the marriage with Štěpán. And how does the actress perceive her role, full of intrigue?
"I enjoy Sylva. At first, I was afraid of the role, but in the end, I found strength and enjoyment in it, as well as an opportunity to discover new things. By the way, working alongside Dana Batulková has been great, she is an amazing woman,"
Slunečná is the most-watched TV series in our country, so we were naturally interested in whether people recognize the actress on the street.
You would probably rather avoid the character of Darina Márová in real life, especially if she was your boss or mother-in-law. Yet the actress who portrays her, Mahulena Bočanová, really loves the role of a schemer who makes the lives of her ex-husband Leoš and her daughter Táňa hell. As she admits, she finds more enjoyment in negative roles than in the positive ones, which always grow old sooner or later.
"This is my third more prominent bitch and I can't forget to mention Miládka from Vyprávěj, who was a real monster, but of course Darina is a badass bitch of her own right. I like every role I get and I try to portray them as multilayered. Darina also has a heart and her background and many positive traits. We are each of us different, but I have the experience that even the coldest, toughest individuals can be understood if you know their history and don't deny them forgiveness,"
The series Ordinace v růžové zahradě 2 should end this year after 15 seasons, so we asked Mahulena if she finds it hard to say goodbye to the character of Darin.
"I don't have to miss Darina, Darina will live forever. That's the advantage TV characters have over us, regular mortals,"
Ája has the appearance of a fragile woman with an angelic face, but in reality, she is a typical ambitious bitch who goes over dead bodies to achieve her goals. At first, she desperately faked pregnancy to stop her partner from leaving, and sometime later she gets pregnant on purpose to avoid punishment for attempting to murder Mastný.
"Playing the character of Ája comes easy for me because the fact that she is a problematic person makes it interesting. Whenever a character is a little antagonistic and brings a problem or conflict to the situation, it's easier to play than positive and good characters who are boring and monotonous,"
In this case, however, karma struck, punishing Ája with having to fight for her life after giving birth. During her stay in the hospital, Ája's kind, almost naive boyfriend Mario was taking exemplary care of her newborn daughter Sofinka. Will it help Ája realize some things and will she change?
"I can definitely say that motherhood will be an eye-opening experience for her and she will realize things she was completely unable to understand before. The question is which of her faces will win. Whether the ambitious and purposeful one that would bury her own mother alive or, ultimately, the human one, where Ája realizes that she actually has someone to love and that it means something to her,"
In the series Sestřičky (Nurses), actress Michaela Dittrichová portrays nurse Libuška Volejníková, who deliberately causes trouble on behalf of others in order to get head nurse Mery removed from her post and replace her. She bullies new nurses, constantly forcing them to do menial work and delegating tasks that should have been her own responsibility. She picked up the director of the hospital, thinking it would gain her favours, but didn't quite succeed. In real life, the actress who portrays Libuška is pregnant for the second time, so she had to say goodbye to the role of an insidious wench.
"I went a long way with Libuška. I'm used to playing bitches in the theatre, but Libuška was more complicated. Her way of thinking, tactics, and schemes often went around the corner, and it wasn't easy for me to understand her. However, we've been together for quite a long time and I eventually got into her character. Sometimes I was "ashamed" for her, other times I enjoyed her scheming and had fun enacting them. And other times she herself entertained me. Mainly thanks to her, I got to work with amazing colleagues and a great staff, so I actually have a lot to thank her for,"
In order for the actress not to have to be stressed about getting fat, the screenwriters wrote the pregnancy in the story of her character Libuška. Naturally, we wish Michaela an easy birth without complications!
Before saying goodbye, we'd like to ask you - which of these bitches from TV is the baddest for you? And which baddie do you enjoy the most?
