Projects supported by the Environment Operational Program will reduce the use of disposable tableware. In many places in the Czech Republic, this will mean a death sentence for disposable cups or dishes. 23 projects submitted by towns and municipalities have received support amounting to almost 60 million crowns. Thanks to this, dishes that can be washed and reused will start appearing at various events.

Thanks to a ministerial subsidy, the company NICKNACK s.r.o., for example, will expand its infrastructure for the provision of returnable cups, which will enable it to offer its return system to cities and municipalities that don't have the capacity or sufficient use. The projects of BEZPETEK a.s. are also interesting. They will contribute to the reduction of the consumption of PET bottles by setting up a network that will enable people to get sparkling or still water into their own containers.

"Nobody wants to see a flood of disposable plastics everywhere today. They represent a great and meaningless burden on the environment. Thanks to the forthcoming legislation, massive subsidies and wide education, we are on our way to saying good-bye to unnecessary dishes for a single meal,"

explains Minister Richard Brabec. Last autumn, the Ministry of the Environment presented a bill to limit the impact of disposable plastics on the environment. From July this year, the sale of selected disposable plastic products, such as cutlery, plates, straws and cotton swabs, will be banned in the EU.

Together with non-profit organizations, the capital has been operating a free coronavirus information line at 800 160 166 since spring 2020. they will also handle any questions about vaccination here. From 12:00 today, this line will also be used to help seniors over the age of 80 with registration for the vaccination in the Central Reservation System, and operators will be using it to answer any questions about the vaccination. The line will be in operation daily from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

"Mayors are proactive in the situation. Like the capital, they're helping seniors in the first phase of vaccination, for example by providing information through their own telephone lines or leaflets. But they also want to be able to register seniors for vaccination themselves. Prague will therefore demand this opportunity for city districts from government representatives,"

says the mayor of the capital Zdeněk Hřib. Unfortunately, the number of lines that can be connected to the Central Reservation System in the region is still limited, so assisted registration can be provided only by a single regional line.

On Thursday night, newly elected President Joe Biden presented his plan for a $1.9 trillion coronavirus rescue package to fight the economic and health crisis stemming from the pandemic.

"The very health of our nation is at stake," Biden said in a major speech in Delaware. He added that giant scale of assistance he wants does not come cheaply, but failure to do so will cost America dearly". Thousands of Americans have been dying of the virus every day for almost a year, and the disease is still spreading across the country.

Biden's proposal, called the "American Rescue Plan," includes federal unemployment benefits or funds to reopen schools. The president-elect also set aside a federal pot of money to launch a universal vaccination program, which he said was a pivotal step to restore the health of the US economy.

"We will move Heaven and Earth to get more people vaccinated," Biden said.

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky predicted travel would permanently change due to the pandemic with people seeking out thousands of smaller cities and spending more time visiting friends and family. Traditional tourism and sightseeing at top global destinations would be significantly reduced. According to Chesky, travelers are yearning for what was taken away from them. They’re not yearning to see Times Square. What they are yearning to do is to see their friends and their families they have not seen in a long time.

The startup was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 and its business dropped by 80% in a little over eight weeks. However, as lockdowns eased, more travelers opted to book homes instead of hotels, helping Airbnb post a surprise profit for the third quarter.

We wish you a beautiful morning. Enjoy a free weekend and remember Ray Bradbury's words:

"Sometimes you just have to jump out the window and grow wings on the way down."
