Yesterday, Pope Francis installed 13 new cardinals, the first African American cardinal among them. He holds a high rank, which has a positive influence on the Pope's advisors, who will later select his successor.

The ceremony at which they were installed is known as the consistory. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, severe restrictions had to be put in place. Instead of the usual thousands, only 10 guests per cardinal were allowed in St. Peter's Basilica. Nine out of the thirteen cardinals are under the age of 80. As such, according to ecclesiastical law, they are authorized to enter a secret conclave and choose another Pope among themselves after the death or resignation of Pope Francis.

It was Francis' seventh consistory since his election in 2013. So far, he has appointed 18 cardinals mostly from distant countries that hadn't had their representative before. Yesterday, for example, he installed the first representatives from Brunei and Rwanda.

According to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, USA topped 13 million cases of Covid-19, just six days after the country hit the 12 million. Public health experts have warned that this could be the deadliest wave the United States has ever seen. In addition,

the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also warned that a large number of cases are spread from people who are asymptomatic.

"More than 50 percent of COVID-19 transmissions is by individuals who exhibit no symptoms and are unaware of their infectiousness,"

shared the CDC. Experts also fear that this year's Thanksgiving could result in an extremely high number of transmissions, with people traveling to see family and friends. The latest data showed 205,000 new coronavirus cases per day.

"Especially as we're seeing exponential growth in cases and the opportunity to translocate disease or infection from one part of the country to another,”

said Dr. Henry Walke COVID-19 manager at the CDC.

An online petition for the removal of actress Amber Heard from Aguaman 2 has collected more than 1.5 million signatures. The protest came right after the removal of the actress' ex-husband Johnny Depp from his role in the film Fantastic Beasts, due to long-standing disputes with Amber Heard.

The petition wants the same end for Amber Heard, who plays the character of Mera. It states that since her divorce from Depp, she has been constantly trying to ruin his life in Hollywood. The petition claims that she lied about her allegations of domestic violence.
