Belgian fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck studied at the prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp... and one can tell. The Spring Summer 2021 collection, which he presented within the Paris Fashion Week, is not so much about wearable pieces of clothing or luxurious-looking fashion, as it is about artistic design that you'll either appreciate or frown on, wondering what the hell was Walter thinking this time... Which group do you belong to?
Gentlemen, this time we're not going to sugercoat the collection and sweet-talk you into falling in love with it, because it will make your better halves fall at your feet. With these models, you can expect the opposite to happen. Not just your significant other, but everyone within a mile of you will run away faster than you can say Nat King Cole. And yes, as you can probably guess, it has everything to do with the fact that in Walter Van Beirendonck's models, you'll look like someone who's just said good bye to their sanity and strikingly resembles the crazy psychopath Michael Myers.

An ordinary human probably wouldn't be able to understand how the mind of a creative artist works, no matter how hard they might try... And so we decided to shrug off the whole SS 2021 collection and enjoy this wild ride, in which imagination knows no bounds. I'm at a loss for words here, because I don't really get this style of art. Either I'm a simpleton with zero knowledge in this field, or it's actual crap. You be the judge of that.

I feel like I should at least attempt to write some kind of review, so this right here would be a really well-done costume for Halloween. Maybe it could be even worn at a particularly wild party with lots of alcohol, opiates and forks in the eyes... But let's cut the sarcasm. I fail to understand the meaning of this, but I really don't consider it fashion. Some form of artistic exaggeration, yes, a costume, maybe, but clothing one could actually wear.

And next comes a camouflage outfit for a Saturday trip to the ZOO. If you don't fancy looking like a peacock, Beirendonck's collection also offers the costume of a tiger. Maybe some theatre production is looking for costumes for Mowgli? They should contact Beirendonck immediately!

I'm slowly beginning to understand what's happened here. The designer probably spent months binging on horror shows before putting this together... starting with the aforementioned Scream and now... Well, see for yourselves! Doesn't it look like SAW to you? On the other hand, a great choice if you want to stay in the bar completely alone, without anyone bothering you.

I have a slightly bad conscience that I'm too cruel to poor Walter, so I switched on my imagination and found a pretty funny piece that could theoretically be worn outside. In the winter. As thermal underwear under a ski jacket. Otherwise, you definitely won't find peace and power in this model (especially not if you're a woman).
I think it's time to finish my review, because I'm a little afraid of how far this could go.
