It began as a series for children without great ambition, but today it is a gigantic animated machinery that includes films, toys, clothes as well as sweets. We're talking about Paw Patrol, a story that children fell in love with, making the creators billionaires. A completely new feature film is currently on its way to the cinemas and children will undoubtedly go crazy again.
Fireman Marshall, technician Rubble, police officer Chase, mechanic Rocky, water rescuer Zuma, aerial rescuer Skye and the rest. This group of dogs got inside the hearts of millions of children around the world. After all, if you have preschool kids at home, you're likely to have heard of this series - or maybe you've even been forced to play it for your kids over and over.
But few realize that behind this animated fairy tale, there's a business of incredible proportions. In addition to the series, which is currently broadcast in more than 160 countries around the world, this dog adventure has spawned plenty of other things that siphon money from the parents' pockets. Toy stores and supermarkets are literally flooded with sweets, toys, clothes, magazines, console or smartphone games and many other products with the motif of Paw Patrol.
The so-called merchandising around this series is absolutely incredible and generates hundreds of millions of crowns. The popularity of licensed goods matches that of the previously unsurpassed Lego or Disney and Pixar toys. Since 2013, when Paw patrol was introduced, it has earned an incredible 170 billion crowns!
And there's more to come! This week, a new movie is heading to the cinemas, in which the dog rescuers will be solving a number of complicated problems in the attractive environment of car racing. For many children, the Paw Patrol will be their first ever visit of a real big cinema! In fact, a couple of epizodes were screened in several cinemas last year and met with surprising success. The filmmakers did not hesitate and created a complete movie.
How did this fascinating story actually begin? The idea came from the TV creator Keith Chapman, who decided to combine everything that children like in one series - funny animals, adventure and attractive professions - a firefighter, a policeman or a pilot. In order to make the Patrol interesting for girls, the spaniel Skye and later another female dog Everest were added.
At first these dogs took over a small Canadian television, then they had a breakthrough in the US and gradually stole the hearts of children all around the world. So far, seven series have been made, totaling 182 episodes, and it looks like this animated machinery is at its peak. In the years to come, it will undoubtedly earn its production studio Spin Master Entertainment a couple more tens of billions.
