Sandy’s legendary outfit from Grease went to auction: It was auctioned off for the price of a luxury house!
She was such a cute little girl, but at the end Sandy resembled a hot tigress in the legendary musical movie Grease (1978). She dressed in a leather outfit and the angel suddenly became literally a "cougar". The iconic scene then influenced the dressing style of most of the teenagers around the world. On Sunday, lovers of this scene were fighting for a leather jacket at an auction in Beverly Hills. Jacket auctioned off for an incredible $ 405,700, over 9 million CZK!
According to Julien's Auctions, it was more than twice the estimated price. Part of the proceeds of the auction, to which the singer donated five hundred items, will support her cancer treatment center in Australia.
Tailor-made pants
The tight black pants and the leather jacket Olivia Newton-John wore as Sandy Olsson were an important part of the key scene in which an obedient high school student turns into a rebel and sings along with John Travolta aka Danny Zuco the famous duet „You're The One That I Want“.
The actress said that the trousers were so tight that the costume designers had to literally sew them onto her during filming. They were for sale now with a broken zipper. Immediately after the film was broadcasted, the outfit became a phenomenon and millions of girls dressed exactly like Sandy. You can still find alternatives to the Grease outfit at reasonable prices on Czech websites.
Unknown bidders
The auction, where the movie fans could buy, among other things, signed posters or a number of outfits the actress wore during her career, raised a total of $ 2.4 million. Of course, those millionaires who have fought for auctioned objects do not want the world to know their names. Given the fact that the money will be used for a good cause, it does not matter anyway.
Fighting cancer
Seventy-one-year-old Australian actress Olivia Newton-John is a four-time Grammy winner. Last year, she announced that doctors have diagnosed her with cancer for the third time in 30 years. There were even rumors earlier this year that when the cancer came back for the third time, the actress had only a few weeks left to live. Olivia immediately denied this and although she admitted she was afraid, she was ready to fight and not give up.
