Shop assistant vs. robot: Who will manage the store?

Do you belong to the enthusiasts of modern technology and embrace every progress with excitement, or do you prefer the traditional, established ways? Either way, shopping without changing rooms, cash desks and a shop assistant, but rather with robots, is likely to become a part of everyone's life. Let's take a look at what awaits us.

The end of changing rooms in the Czech Republic, I mean, the world

Do you often leave the store with empty hands and depressed that you did not find what you needed even after an hour of trying on clothes in the changing room? And this was preceded by tiredness, anger and sweating when you furiously tried on one outfit after the other? In that case, we have good news for you! These exact feelings may disappear soon!

The principle lies in so-called mirror wardrobes

Amazon has patented a technology that allows you to try your clothes on virtually without having to go through the aforementioned drama in the changing room. The principle of the future trying on of clothes lies in so-called mirror wardrobes – a combination of mirrors, monitors, lights, projectors and cameras. When will this comfortable novelty be available? That's still in the stars. This is just a patent, and so the path to the full implementation of this idea can be long and thorny.

Will e-shops replace shopping centers?

Another question mark hangs over the future of physical shops and shopping centers. There is no doubt that the position of e-shops is getting stronger and there is speculation that one day they will replace classic stores completely. According to real estate consultants, there is no reason to worry yet. So it looks like physical shops will continue to be a part of our lives. Or at least those that adapt to new trends in a similar way like Amazon.

The American company Amazon and Czech company Alza already have the store of the future

At the beginning of the year, Amazon opened the Amazon Go store in Seattle with no shop assistants, queues, or cash desks. The principle of shopping is based on computer scanning, algorithms and sensors. In practice, it means you come to the store, swipe your credit card, and then put the goods straight into the basket or bag, with the cameras and sensors watching what you take. The money is then deducted from your account. However, the Czech Republic isn't far behind. Alza has opened a store of the future.

The concept builds on the AlzaBox

The principle of shopping consists of automated mailboxes. When you arrive at the store, you enter the six-digit code you received after ordering the goods online. Once it is entered, the door opens and the built-in floor lights bring you to one of the hundreds of mailboxes in which your goods are stored. At the same time, you can come and simply shop directly and comfortably at the store. The best-selling products are pre-stocked in boxes at the store.

What else awaits us? Let's wait and see, but surely more than enough!
