Although December 31 is a day like any other, for many people it means much more. A night full of hope and unfulfilled wishes. A night full of alcohol and food. The last night before the new year. A new beginning. Tabula rasa, everything is forgotten, we can start anew. Each of us have a different idea of an ideal celebration of the end of the year and the arrival of a new one. Some can't wait to party the night away, others are looking forward to getting some sleep, and yet others are excited to go for a skiing trip. We asked Czech celebrities how, in their opinion, the best New Year's Eve celebration should look like.
Modern pentathlete David Svoboda doesn't drink much during the year due to extensive training. However, he admitted to LP-life.cz that on specials occasions, he won't say no to alcohol. The soon-to-be mother of two Andrea (Kerestešová) Růžičková resigned on celebrating the New Year's Eve a couple of years ago. Both grandmothers live too far away to volunteer to babysit. Not only is the actress in great anticipation of the arrival of her second offspring, but she already has a two-year-old son at home, due to which she's grateful for every second of sweet sleep she can get. Even on New Year's Eve.
The hyperactive director of Kapka Naděje Vendula Pizingerová, on the other hand, certainly doesn't sleep on New Year's Eve. Well, she hardly ever sleeps, but on New Year's Eve she's even less likely to do so than any other time. Usually, she celebrates it in a different time zone than everyone else.
"New Year's Eve is strange, there's no clear answer. These forced celebrations... You should make New Year's Eve whenever you want! But I can tell you that I enjoyed my nicest New Year's Eve in Bangkok about four years back, with my husband. We spent the night outside, in the streets, and we always bought two beers, so the waitress was able to recognize us by "two chang" even the next day on the street."
