On the one hand, America's fascination with French fashion with the spirit of haute couture, and on the other hand, a fantastic dream about New York's incredible beauty. Nicolas Ghesquière united two fashion worlds and showed the playful Cruise 2020 collection at John F. Kennedy airport old TWA terminal.
“I was fortunate to have landed at the TWA flight center in the late 1990s. It was something I could never forget. This place had been forgotten for twenty years and has now returned to life. It's like a shrine that has been revived and seeing it again in another iteration, as a hotel, is a great pleasure. It is a rediscovery of an unusual place that is part of the American heritage.”
The luxurious fashion show was accompanied by energetic and sometimes dramatic music that gave the show a chic, mystical character. Nicolas Ghesquière presented unconventional cuts and materials. They feature mostly satin and shiny silk, leather, cotton but also tweed or luxury brocade.
Cruise 2020 is a fresh and dazzling play of colors, combinations and sensual cuts. The hot hit of the collection are corsets combined with skirts or trousers or stylish leather bomber.
Emma Stone, Jennifer Connelly, Julianne Moore, Alicia Vikander and Léa Seydoux were traditionally been seated in the front row. Others included Cate Blanchett, Natalia Vodianova, Karlie Kloss, Nina Dobrev or Michelle Williams, and we have to say that it they all looked great!
A new take in the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2020? This is a regular time travel. If you enjoy movies like "Bony a Klid" (1987) or "Flashdance" (1983), you'll be loving this collection.
Giant shoulder pads, crisp shades of blue, leather belts with large buckles and ruffles. I don't know why, but as for the fashion of the 80s, I'm not a fan. Unlike the timeless trends of the 60s and 70s, it is a gaudy mix, which, after all, even the cursed hair curls fit perfectly.
So I am really very disappointed and if I was present at this show, I would definitely count down the minutes to the next afterparty. And the worst model of all? Pleated fuchsia skirt with a floral corset, wide belt and leather bolero is a total HELL that makes my head spin!!! So, unfortunately, LV Cruise 2020 has absolutely failed in my opinion.
