The collection, which looks as if cut out of paper, is, of course for the SS19 season, designed by widely-recognised and talented designer, Jeremy Scott. Imagine the creative process behind a collection: everything begins by a drawing on paper, then the fabric is selected, followed by sewing. This luxury collection for SS19 looks precisely as if it has been drawn on paper. Jeremy simply brought his designs to life.
The entire show of the Moschino fashion house was carried in a luxurious painter´s style. All around there were painted-on canvases, rolls of fabric and other fabrics which Jeremy uses in his designs. And that is how most models from the SS19 luxury collection looked like, painted on, with the models looking like sketches freely drawn on paper. However, thanks to the luxurious cuts they looked absolutely amazing and reminded us of the film Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts strolled along the street in a hat and a close-fitting elegant suit.
Apart from elegant models, the ready to wear collection also contained more casual pieces, such as luxurious evening gowns which were beautifully decorated, in great detail. Among them also appeared very extravagant, hard-to-overlook models: dresses which looked like giant dressmaking shears, or such of very asymmetric elements. Lovely evening gowns were decorated by a beautiful black lace and looked like for a Barbie doll. In the end, Jeremy used the show to promote his new perfume, Toy 2, which was presented on the catwalk by Kendall Jenner.
Designer such as Jeremy Scott, wants to have the best models presenting his fashion shows. His favourite beauty is Gigi Hadid, who was the star of the show and performed its perfect conclusion. In the puffball-skirted wedding dress she looked like a delightful cupcake. The dress came with an ethereal train of butterflies and accentuated her beautiful face. Gigi thus represents a modern bride: every woman is free to choose and may wear on her wedding day what she pleases. Even scrawled on stockings!
Jeremy Scott was probably not all there when he designed this absolutely crazy collection for such a great make as Moschino. What an embarrassment to present this stuff as a collection and new trends for the Spring/Summer 2019. Perhaps I sound like an old-fashioned old bag, but sometimes enough is enough!
What does SS19 represent? Absolute copycat of the 80's, adorned by pen scrawls. For example, that white beautifully-cut suit, scrawled on by black and red felt tip pen could be in real life used perhaps only by a mother of untamed triplets, with whom she finds it difficult to cope, so she stopped caring what she puts on. But otherwise? No thanks, I would rather reach for the fine models, for example by the Zimmermann brand, its SS19 collection.
And to conclude, there is that kind of joke, in the form of gadgets used by every seamstress. Therefore, we have here a tangled dressmaking measuring tape, a golden thimble and a pincushion as hats, impossibility and the nth degree. This could really only be explained by a tragic story of how desperate Jeremy in its creation wept over the fact that his muse deserted him some two seasons ago. And then, through a tumblerful of whiskey on the rocks he spotted the tools of his trade - and began to draw. How sad…
