Cars with two seats are called roadsters or spiders. They are not about space, but about a driving experience, which will undoubtedly be provided by Jaguar, Porsche and McLaren.
You can meet the first two models on Czech roads fairly regularly, while the future owner of the British car with the Formula 1 genes will enjoy great attention. It is almost impossible to encounter such a car in Czechia, because the uniqueness is quite expensive. Currently, 25 types of open cars are available on the Czech market. The broadest offer is that of BMW with its 1, 4, 6 and Z4 models. Competitor Audi offers the A3 and A5 converters in addition to the R8 Spider super sports roadster. Mercedes-Benz has a wider choice of roadsters, i.e. the SL and the SLK and the Class E convertible. This semi-open design for small cars has also become fashionable. The competitive Fiat 500 and Citroën DS3 offer variants that come with a fabric roof and a solid frame around the doors.
This vehicle is equipped with a centrally mounted flat six-cylinder motor with a 3.4 litre capacity and a robust power of 330 hp. This makes it the fastest boxster in history and it can be driven at a speed of up to 281 km per hour. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km per hour takes a mere 5 seconds. Porsche obviously makes sure this cheap model does not compete with the iconic 911 Carrera (from 0 to 100 km per hour in 4.8 seconds). Compared with that the boxster can accommodate only two passengers, but at the same time, thanks to the motor being centrally placed it has two booths, one under the front hood and one in the rear. The GTS model is also identified by a sports bumper and a steering wheel with Alcantara.
The Porsche Boxster’s price starts at CZK 1,960,000
The British see in it a follow-up from the E-Type, which belongs amongst the most wanted collectible pieces. The desire to buy it should trigger all the three engines that are offered – i.e. two six-cylinder engines and one eight-cylinder engine. Their performance ranges between 340 and 495 hp. This luxurious car can also be very easily persuaded to take a sporty ride and the skid is easy to control.
The F-Type’s price starts at CZK 2,076,118
This luxurious new item has adopted some of the design elements from the McLaren P1 Hybrid Supersport. This is particularly noticeable on the new rounded front area with its distinctive boomerang-shaped headlamps. The two passengers cabin is a reminder of the cockpit of a racing car; air conditioning, for example, is controlled on a panel that is located on the driver’s door. The interior is largely decorated with parts produced from carbon fibre. The engine, which is located in the middle, has eight cylinders, 32 valves, two turbochargers and a capacity of 3.8 litres. The total output is 641 hp, enabling acceleration from zero to 100 km per hour in 3 seconds, with a speed of 200 km per hour 8.6 seconds after the start. The speedometer needle stops at 329 km per hour.
The 650S Spider’s price starts at CZK 5.7 million (exclusive of VAT)
