The fashion show was launched by a wave of military models. Stylish jackets and blazers, luxurious leather handbags, longer cotton or sparkly blouses and tops in khaki shades were replaced by a collection of black classic items which the creative designer embellished by shiny and sparkling elements. One of the black and white pieces was presented by the son of Cindy Crawford - Presley Gerber.
Fashion is not evolution but revolution - words which Olivier Rousteing placed on some of the luxury tops of the FW 2018 collection. The young designer built on the statement of Pierre Balmain, but said the exact opposite - fashion was not revolution, but evolution. But Olivier Rousteing´ opinion is that all of us live in times of revolution and that the digitisation process is becoming increasingly important. According to him, elements of revolution may be observed both in the press as well as in collections of world fashion designers.
The luxury collection contains unique pieces of precise craftsmanship, bold decorations and top-quality tailoring. The models are decorated with embroidery, metal, chains, shine and sparkle and as regards materials, Olivier Rousteing reached for example for artificial leather, paracord, jersey, nylon or PVC. PVC was actually the material of majority of trousers which appeared on the catwalk.
The FW18 collection contains, as has become typical for Balmain, several rock-style items, too. Luxurious biker jackets and blazers bear elements of rock and such trends are the pieces of choice for every stylish rocker. So remember the next time you go to a rock concert, to stop by at Balmain!
Olivier Rousteing and the direction he chose for Balmain really entertains me! It is so chic, modern, simply finally something else while being completely wearable. Lately I very much appreciate the said wearability, because after all even high fashion should be intended to be worn.
Right from the start I very much liked the military green jacket with thick gilded polo-neck (or sweater, who knows. That is precisely the rebel-boyish style that will not pass without being noticed. If I were single, I would certainly appreciate if my suitor would come to a date; for example to restaurant Kogo, dressed just like this. After all, to have a stylish boyfriend is always useful: when making purchases in future he would serve with his knowledge certainly better than the classic type of guy who just holds your bags.
In the final stage of the show I was stunned by the shiny black jacket in combination with a finely torn polo-neck. This is one of the few things that some older gentleman could carry off (clearly, I immediately see my Johny in this model). How could I put it simply: it is just very SEXY! And where would you wear it? Of course that on a date!!!
