Abdul Mateen was born on 10.8.1991. He is one of five sons and seven daughters, who were born to the Brunei ruler, the sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. His mother is the second wife of the sultan Puan Mariam Binti Abdul Aziz. He gained a respect-worthy education in many different subjects, which have come to influence his life. As he says: ‘I don’t think much of the life of affluency of the royal family I was born into, I’m used to it. Family comes first! I have a very big family, I feel closest to my oldest brother and my two sisters. We do everything together, we’re growing up together, and we live together.’
