The ninth film from the legendary Star Wars series entitled The Rise of Skywalker has just arrived in the cinemas. That sparked off an incredible frenzy shortly before Christmas, in which emotions and billions of dollars are flowing wild. Everything is amplified by the fact that this is probably the very last Star Wars movie.
It's been an unbelievable 42 years since George Lucas made his first Star Wars movie, which completely transformed the form of sci-fi movies. The unique combination of a fairy tale and, for its time, groundbreaking film effects infatuated tens of millions of fans spanning over several generations all around the world. The original film was followed by another three and gradually, an incredible phenomenon was born, which was enlarged to include books, comics, games, toys and all kinds of fan merch.
Suddenly, billions were involved in the story of the Jedi knight Luke Skywalker, and according to estimates, Star Wars earned $ 65 billion in total. Out of this, more than 56 billion are made up by the sale of action figures, t-shirts, comics and other fan items.

Lucas was waiting for better film effects
Not surprisingly, George Lucas returned to his famous series years later. In 1999, he released a new film trilogy starting with the movie Episode 1 - The Hidden Threat, which preceded the events in the original series. The trilogy explained, among other things, the mystery of how one of the darkest villains ever, Darth Vader, was born, and also told a story of forbidden love between Jedi knight Anakin Skywalker and Princess Padmé. Lucas said he had been waiting so long before filming the second trilogy for one reason: to finish telling the whole story, he had to wait until better digital film effects were available.
After the three new films, Star Wars had a long break. The silence lasted until 2012, when Disney bought the rights and started making new movies. In December 2015, Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiered, bringing together the famous and beloved actors Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. The film enjoyed tremendous success, with over $ 2 billion in profits, which makes it the fourth most profitable film of all time.

Carrie Fisher's unexpected death shocked everyone
The enthusiasm of the fans didn't know any limits, so in December 2016 everyone was completely paralyzed by the unexpected death of one of the leading actresses Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia.
Paradoxically, Carrie Fisher will appear in the latest film that is currently being launched in Czech cinemas and was made after her death. It has long been speculated that the filmmakers would "revive Princess Leia", but it turned out that they used unused footage from the previous episode.

High expectations are also reinforced by the fact that it is probably the last film in this series. Disney wants to focus on series and whethere there will be any new trilogy is, symbolically put, "in the stars".
