Olivier Lapidus made his début as Lanvin´s creative director in Paris, September last year, where he presented his first SS 2018 collection. It was in the spirit of simplicity and clean feminine lines. We have missed the joyful creativity that used to be so typical of Lanvin. How did he fare with the autumn collection? Quite well, we think, Olivier Lapidus definitely took a step forward!
While the winning colour of the SS 2018 collection was black, the autumn one is going to be exactly the opposite. We like this idea as well as the luxurious tones chosen by Olivier Lapidus. Royal blue, sky-blue, salmon pink, pink, yellow, orange, red, green, purple, nude, white - the colour palette is really wide this time.
The piece that failed to please us, was the head covering which resembled something vague, somewhere between a hijab and a ski-hood. In the autumn or winter one could surely choose something more luxurious to give an evening on the town more of a spark. Why on earth did Lanvin not go for example for a beret?
What do we enjoy from the whole collection the most? Definitely the stylish handbags, shoes, leather midi skirts and the vibrantly-coloured trousers. That is, with the exception of those resembling jodhpurs. The trousers alone are so striking, that they would go with just a simple asymmetric black sweater (as showcased on the catwalk by Joan Smalls), done a stylish pair of heels and some luxurious headgear - as for example the aforestated beret. With this outfit you will become a brilliant star of the autumn!
It will be possible to pre-order the luxurious Lanvin collection online as early as in July 2018, so if you long for any item here, remember to mark the date in your diary!
Lanvin and his latest collection, that as if follows on from the last one, the second last and so on, is so boring, bringing nothing new, that I cannot see how after so many years anyone has the energy to attend those shows in person.
No, polonecks and classic, elegantly cut coats will fulfil their function (in my case too) but they will certainly not enthuse anyone enough to ask you: "Which label is the divine sweater, purse, or dress...?! I must have that!". Nothing to be keen on as far as Lanvin goes!
Moreover, one of the biggest mistakes of the fashion industry is represented by the shaded blue pants whose cut widens the thigh, accompanied by a gold blouse and two ugly zippers! Am I supposed to pay approximately 28 thousand crowns for trousers, which will make me look like a barrel, when on the Instagram I keep seeing those too-perfect figures of girls, which make me depressed when I as much as look at a Toblerone bar?! (Ha ha ha) Not even by chance! Goodbye Lanvin...sweet dreams...with those sales.
