At the beginning of this year, Jiří Kalfař conquered New York. And now Charlene, the Princess of Monaco, has recognized his work. Which other Czech designers have enjoyed a significant international recognition in the past, and how did they deal with the trophy?!
As part of Monte Carlo Fashion Week, Jiří Kalfař presented his new luxury collection, which earned him the prestigious prize of Princess Charlene for an innovative and sustainable approach to fashion. The prize was given by Princess Charlene's brother Gareth Wittstock.
“I am honored to have received the Innovation Award 2019 at Monte Carlo Fashion Week under the auspices of H.S.H. Princess Charlene and taken over the prize from Gareth Wittstock, Secretary General of Fondation Princess Charlene, and Rosanna Trinchese, Director of Monte Carlo Fashion Week,” said Jiří Kalfař.
However, he is not the only Czech designer who has won a significant foreign award. Who was equally successful in the past?
Jakub Polanka, a distinctive designer, won the award from one of the most important fashion designers of history - Hubert de Givenchy. But because he does not like to show off his achievements, he does not exhibit most of the prizes he won during his career. But at first he used the luxury glass trophy by Hubert de Givenchy as a toothbrush stand, well, whatever floats your boat...
Blanka Matragi, an energetic designer of evening and wedding dresses, has been awarded several times for her luxury work. In addition to awards granted in the Czech Republic, she won the 2002 Salvador Dali International Award for Fine Arts.
