Donatella Versace is the new owner of Vila Mondadori

Donatella Versace needn't be introduced. When you are Donatella, your home can't be anything but the epitome of luxury. The designer from one of the most famous fashion houses has acquired a sumptuous residence in her native Italy, which bears the name La Verbanella, but is more famous as Villa Mondadori. It is located in the small seaside town of Meina, overlooking the magnificent Lake Maggiore, which, along with Lake Como or Lake Garda, belongs to Italy's most well-known lakes. This special, magical place will take your heart away.

Villa with a wonderful history

The house was previously owned by an Italian publisher and founder of a publishing house Arnold Mondadori, who bought the house in the 1920s. He would often invite distinguished guests such as writers Ernest Hemingway and Thomas Mann or founder of the animated empire Walt Disney to his home. Disney and Mondadori even signed a contract about the publishing of several fairy tales in book form here.

A rarity you won't get to see anywhere else

The spacious pink-colored villa occupies an area of 1,400 square meters and boasts 4 floors with 50 luxury rooms, over 20 bedrooms, in which we imagine our sleep would be extra sweet, 12 bathrooms and a library with a study. Many rooms offer a lake view, but if you happen to long for even more nature, a garden with a swimming pool is conveniently close. The villa also features a fireplace that's an absolute rarity. It is where Mondadori collected the signatures of his guests. The fireplace has been preserved in its original state and contains a wealth of famous names.

A lucrative property requires a lucrative amount

It is obvious that Donatella really, really wanted the villa. She paid 5 million euros for the property, which converts to nearly 130 million crowns, although the villa had initially ben sold for 4,8 million euros, which equals less than 125 million crowns.

Would Villa Mondadori fit your idea of a dream house?
