For the launch of their new collection, Dior brought its guests to a darkened forest. Why? The SS20 collection is a result of the brand's cooperation with the Coloco organization, which is involved in urban regeneration and greening. With this show, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri wanted to highlight the impact of the fashion industry on the envirement.
More than 160 trees ready for planting appeared on the catwalk. Their purpose was not only to highlight the importance of protecting the environment, but also to reflect Christian Dior's love for nature.

Batik and ombre are back!
You've probably thrown all the batik pieces out of your closet a long time ago, and as you can see now, was it a big mistake... or perhaps one of the best decisions in your life? Either way, batik returns to the fashion scene, hand in hand with ombre! Dior applied this duo to casual dresses, overalls, three-quarter pants or pleated skirts.

Don't leave your house without a hat

And romantic dresses full of embroidery, crystals, lace, tulle and slender silhouettes happen to be our favorite part of the collection. While the hippie part has left us totally unimpressed, this is simply a hit!

The sixties again!
I was born as 'late' as in the 90s... but I've heard a lot about the sixties. When I was a teeneger, I often felt sorry I hadn't been alive in those times, because dressing like a flower child and being permanently high seemed cool. Today, I don't think I'd be even remotely cool under the influence of drugs or dressed like a hippie. I understand that Dior wants to return to nature, but in my opinion, it's possible to achieve that without batik...
They say that if something doesn't work, it's gonna work in Russia or perhaps in Paris. This time, the saying was true. The garden setting is magical. Everyone wants to be surrounded by greenery around with tall trees and fragrant flowers. And as all Dior fans know, Christian Dior and his sister loved gardens. It is therefore no wonder that the brand's creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, after the media hype about the burning Brazilian rainforest, decided to stage her next show in a garden full of oxygen.

I don't want this to look like I don't like flowers, that's not true at all. I love them, but only in a vase with a sweet note like "I love you", and lately also on a plate, when trying new gourmet experiences... BUT... as I said, flower children already had their time (and so did Husák's children) and it would be nice if we could start planting flowers in the ground instead of showing them off on the catwalk...
Ready-to-wear?!
The collection is called Ready-to-Wear, but I'm absolutely not ready to wear the vast majority of these creations. For me, batik is bad taste incarnated, ombre is something only emo-kids would wear and... country girl style shirts!? Sorry but we're not in Texas. If that were the case, we could legally own guns, and then I'd shoot every person wearing a batik T-shirt in the leg, so that they'd remember that batik shouldn't be worn under any circumstances, even if it comes from a brand like Dior. Well, maybe in a place such as at the former Clinic at Prague's Žižkov, but the squatters living there even had holes in their garbs... Dior (hopefully) doesn't have those.

Long dresses
But, so as not to seem totally ignorant, I'd like to compliment on something after all. I like the long dresses with long sleeves. I've even bought one recently in Paris. It's black with white spots that actually represent flowers. Since they have long sleeves, they can be worn in the autumn. Almost all the dresses with long skirts in this collection are really neat.
