The surface of the 1000 m² Lucerna terraces is covered with luxurious greenery. Beautiful nooks, breathtaking views of the city's hustle and buzz, a pleasant breeze, and relaxation in an unusual place that has been opened for a few weeks to the general public. If you think chickens, birds, rabbits and goats cannot exist or even be bred, just a few steps from Wenceslas Square, you are mistaken. Hermína the goats and others are proof of it! You can only meet her here for a few days, but if you don't manage to see her, a small consolation is a vaulting buck (called a “goat” in Czech) with which you can take a picture. It doesn't make such a mess.
"The inspiration for the grass on Lucerna's rooftop was, among other things, foreign laws that work in more developed countries, such as France. Every new building must have a garden or solar panels on the roof. The new "green" places are an answer to the ever-increasing number of areas occupied by cars. And I consider that a great idea."
Lucerna's rooftop, covered with artificial turf, should be a place where new ideas are born. The space is used and will continue to be used for the purposes of events, as well as lectures and dancing. There is also a so-called Poetry Jukebox (a jukebox with poems), a piano, a chess table or a ping pong table. In the future, discussions with politicians or winter fun in the form of ice skating are being considered, as well as a "sleepover" under the stars, and other ideas have also been mentioned - live music concerts, interviews focused on the cultivating and breeding world. There is something for everyone.
Take the opportunity to visit this unique historical gem, the rooftop of the Lucerna Palace, which was completed together with the Great Hall in 1921. From the very beginning, the owner Vácslav Havel (the grandfather of Václav and Miloš Havel) intended for it to be used for culture and as a restaurant, but unfortunately the plan was never carried out. But things are looking good now!
The Lucerna rooftop is open from August 28th until September 11th, 2018, always from 12pm to 8 pm.
