On the 90th anniversary the American Film Academy handed out luxury iconic golden statuettes of Oscars. In Los Angeles the night from Sunday to Monday most awards were won by the film DUNKIRK. The prize for the best film was obtained by film The SHAPE OF WATER.
The film the Shape of Water (2017) from the workshop of Director Guillermo del Toro had the greatest number of irons in the fire; that is thirteen Oscar nominations. The second film with eight nominations was Dunkirk (2017) by Director Christopher Nolan. Three nominations were given to Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017). The celebratory anniversary dinner was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, same as last year.
The biggest sensation associated with this year´s awards was orchestrated by the host himself when he directly during the live broadcast when he, together with a few actors, walked into one of the cinemas near the place of announcement. He handed out refreshments as well as drinks and gave one of the spectators the opportunity to hand over one of the Oscar awards.
A real point of interest concerning the nominations would be if the film the Shape of Water actually turned its thirteen nominations into Oscars - it would have become the most successful luxurious Oscar-winning film of all times. The current record in the number of Ocars acquired is held by Ben Hur (1959) with eleven Oscars, Titanic (1997) and the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). However, this did not happen and The Shape of Water won four luxury Oscars out of its thirteen nominations.
