The Freedom Tower is the new icon of the country. It is a luxurious architectural monument, which has restored the luxurious New York skyline following the tragic event. While the memorial located nearby is sculpted out of the ground, speaks of the past and remembers, the World Trade Center speaks of the future, hope and rises proudly upwards in a blaze of light.
The new building evokes the slender, tapered triangular forms of major New York icons such as the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building. It has replaced almost one quarter of the offices destroyed in 2001.
The tower rises from a square base, with its edges angled backwards, to create a flat shape of 8 elongated isosceles triangles, with a perfect octagon at the centre.
The building was ceremonially opened in 2014 and designed by architect David Childs from the Skidmore, Owings & Merrill studio. The company is one of the world’s largest project design companies engaged in architecture. It was also involved in the Burj Khalifa building, the tallest skyscraper in the world.
The building is 541.3 tall and has 104 floors. There is a luxurious viewing platform at a height of 387 metres, and a restaurant with first-class services on the 101st floor. The 64th floor is a paradise for employees who work in the skyscraper and their visitors. One World Common is a luxurious space with a café, game room and relaxation zone, allowing for the birth of creative ideas and interesting collaborations.
