The idea of mirror copy

Creative director of Givenchy, Clare Waight Keller, presents in the luxury collection for SS19 an abstract idea of mirrors, which smooth out distinction between sexes. What does it mean? That in the women´s collection we can see elements of the one for men and vice versa. What do we appreciate about the whole idea the most? That finally there is a designer who managed to demonstrate this trend in an acceptable degree!

The catwalk was replete by gamine hairstyles

Models with gamine haircuts, jackets, blouses and shirts tucked into military pants or very sharp lines. These elements, too, dominated next to the luxury asymmetric and romantic gowns the catwalk of the Paris Fashion Week. The result is that the SS19 offers harmonious view of female beauty with a drop of boyish negligence. How about the shiny jacket in combination nude military pants? A high-end model worthy of admiration!

Play of details

The new Givenchy collection plays with details and puts emphasis on accessories. In addition to ethereal airy dresses and sleek suits evocative of years past, the French brand also presented gowns decorated by vibrant sequins or earrings and glasses encrusted in dazzling rhinestones. The luxurious play of details thus has its place in the SS19 collection.

Paris has welcomed star beauties

The SS19 Givenchy fashion show was also attended by Hollywood stars, such as Amanda Seyfried, Liv Tyler or Anne Hathaway. Amanda Seyfried placed her bet on rougher rocker look and in denim shorts she showed off her exemplary legs, Liv as well as Anne donned timeless black, accompanied by elegant overcoats - black in the case of Liv, whilst Anne chose a bold animal pattern. All three looked great, adorning the luxury fashion show.

The SS19 Givenchy collection lacks drive!

The Givenchy brand is known for its perfect sense of minimalist style. In fact, apart from some decorative elements that were perhaps the last time round was absolutely enforced by Kim Kardashian West for her wedding in 2014, I have not seen anything bold like that at all. The SS19 collection therefore wasn´t very surprising, it is again more of a confirmation of the old unwritten rule of ´less is more´. Whether it is a good thing has to be decided by you, but I personally lack some kind of DRIVE.

However, the model which I did like was the dark blue corset overall with some kind of silver jacket (hard to say what it actually is). Thanks to the striking trousers, overall it makes a very feminist impression on me. Something within the meaning of 'while I am a woman, I still have balls." And that is one of the reasons why I am enjoying this combination so much. Now at least you know what to wear for a business dinner. It is the women who rule the world?

And then there are a few pieces with loose shirts with pants with a significantly high waistband. I am rather puzzled by that, perhaps also because of the choice of colours. Khaki brown with dark blue? Not really…

The greatest HIT and the greatest FLOP of this collection according to Ornella is to be found at the beginning of the photo gallery below the article.
