A final farewell to Taťána Fischerová: She was resigned to die

Dozens of people flocked to the Great Ceremonial Hall of the Strašnice Crematorium all morning to say their last goodbyes to the actress, writer, host, politician and civic activist.

The Obituary

Fischerová herself invited her friends and supporters to her funeral by the means of an unconventional obituary, in which she spoke in her own words. On the left side of the document, there is a photo of the actress by Vlasta Bičáková along with an extract from the short story book Lydia's Door, written by Fischerová herself:

In this context, many believe that the actress wrote these words at a time when she was already resigned to die...

Since Fischerová had been active in various fields, people from all areas of life came to say their goodbyes. Among those who appeared with a bouquet were, for example, Marta Kubišová, Dagmar Havlová, Vlastimil Harapes, Jiří Drahoš, Ivan Bartoš, as well as Petra Černocká, who remembered her friend with melancholy.

"We've been friends since childhood, we used to go to our weekend house together. She never liked to be pitied, so I didn't know for a long time that she was ill. Some time in October, we met there again, and she was chopping wood. I told her that she should be taking it easy since she was ill, but she wouldn't have any of that, saying that everyone had to get something done each day,"

remembers actress Černocká.

Active life

In addition to acting, Fischerová was also active in charity work and political life for many years. She worked in various foundations and civic associations, was a Member of Parliament and ran as a candidate in the presidential election in 2013.

She appeared on the screen for the first time under the direction of Vladimír Čech in the Czechoslovak drama Kohout plaší smrt (1961). She also starred in the films Hotel for Strangers (1966), Lion with a White Mane (1986) and The Witness of a Dying Time (1989).
