The new leadership of the Olomouc Region criticized the planned construction of the Danube-Odra-Elbe water canal. They reject the project in its complete form, not only its Elbe branch, which was met by a negative attitude from the previous leadership. According to the new councilors, the construction is functionally and economically meaningless. The construction of this river canal has been debated for several hundred years. The costs would climb up to hundreds of billions.

"The plan for the construction of the canal also envisages that the waterway would run across several municipalities. That is completely unacceptable. Among other things, the construction would take up thousands of hectares of land and have a negative impact on the groundwater cycle,"

said Jan Šafařík (Spojenci), Deputy Governor for Regional Development.

The coronavirus pandemic is complicating the lives of people around the planet. While in the Czech Republic, restaurants, hotels or fitness and wellness centers are eagerly awaiting developments in the days to come, afraid that the country might switch to the 4th level of DOG (Anti-epidemic system) again, in many countries around the world stricter measures are already in place. And they will remain in place over the holidays. The United States, where more than 3,000 people died of COVID-19 yesterday alone, has strongly advised its citizens to limit the number of relatives coming together during Christmas.

outlined Dr. Michael Osterholm, a member of Biden’s coronavirus advisory board.

France went even further, confirming that the curfew between eight in the evening and six in the morning would apply even on New Year's Eve. The only day in the coming weeks, when the French will be able to move outside after 8 pm, will be the Christmas Day. From 21 December, the same restrictions will apply in Slovakia, where the government has already voted for closing the shops, with the exception of basic good stores. In addition, from December 28, a coronavirus test will be required from in companies with more than 500 employees.
