It offers the audience contrasting views of the modern as well as historic buildings of the town. You can find it in the Zabeel park and it is simply called "the Dubai Frame".
It consists of two, 150-metres-tall towers, connected at the top by a 93-meter long glass bridge, offering panoramic views. On the lower floors you can find a museum, which is definitely worth visiting. Here, you can have a look at the incredible journey of this unique city, developing from a small fishing village to the stunning bustling city of this day.
From one side of the frame you can admire the historical sights of the city, while on the other you can marvel at the luxurious, state-of-the art skyscrapers, such as the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world!
The glass bridge is completely reinforced against any cracks. The Dubai Frame is embellished by a decorative golden pattern, celebrating the arrival of the expected EXPO in 2020. Admission to this new luxurious dominant landmark is not in the meantime exorbitant in any way: USD 13.50 for adults and USD 5.50 for children.
The Mexican architect, Fernando Donis, whose frame design won an international competition in 2008, with the task having been a "tall construction to introduce the new face of Dubai," maintains, that his idea was stolen.
In the competition, instead of a massive structure he designed luxurious emptiness. However, the winning design, contrary to the frame of which Dubai boasts now, he designed a minimalistic, slim white frame. The architect watched the construction through social networks. He is satisfied with the result; however, as he says he would have made it more subtle, with less decoration, but otherwise it is what he wanted. He would only have wished to have been a part of it.
