It seems that the year of the DOG, which will replace the year of the rooster on February sixteenth according to the Chinese horoscope, will change not only energy, but also fashion. The iconic domestic pet decorates the clothing of the world’s luxury fashion houses and has probably become the most popular creature of the year as a result. You may have already seen the Gucci campaign featuring puppies, but this is something entirely new. A dog also embellishes the collection of Dolce & Gabbana, which uses its caricatures on t-shirts and other fashion items.
Are you ready for the year of the dog? If not, the new luxury collection by the Dolce & Gabbana fashion house, titled Year of the Dog, might help you to some extent. The collection is inspired by one of the most popular household pets, embellished with luxury crowns and colour combinations. For some, it might be a unique limited edition fashion item they simply must have in their wardrobe, while for other it is an incomprehensible unwearable kitsch. Not every man or woman wants to wear a shirt with a cartoon dog.
The brand really dedicated attention to the entire collection and thought up several pieces you can buy. Colourful phone cases with an adorable doggie, t-shirts or various colours with various dog breeds, but also leather handbags, elegant jewellery, printed coloured sweatshirts and much more. Every luxury item is decorated with fun cartoons, which are very original and interesting but not to everybody’s taste. There are pictures of beagles, Labradors and other friends, who inspired the fashion house.
What we like about the collection is the colourfulness and creativity. The clothes appeals at first glance and you will fall in love with it. Although the dog prints are very extravagant, we can imagine that they add some real juice to simple clothing as the main item in an outfit.
For heaven’s sake, after the dog madness presented by GUCCI, there are more dog maniacs on the scene, this time from Dolce & Gabbana?! Yes, I get it, it’s the Year of the Dog, even the two-year old kid on the corner knows that! But does that mean we all have to wear a bunch of cartoon mutts on our t-shirts, sweatshirts and shoes?!
I don’t think Dolce & Gabbana created this for their sheer love of dogs. The only thing I see is a pure focus on high profits on the Asian market, nothing more. Because let’s be honest, the fashion style in Asia, and particularly in China and Japan, is totally UFO which an ordinary European can rarely understand. Please don’t wear this in the heart of Europe, not even during Carnival.
In my opinion, all of it is hideous (yes, I must be cruel). And it can’t even in the slightest be due to the fact that they left out the image of our beloved golden retriever Shadow...
