This year’s “Czech Nightingale” music awards were held in the spirit of luxury and stereotypes.
The singer Karel Gott again took away the “Czech Nightingale” title in the male singer category on this gala evening, for the forty-second time now. The “Czech Nightingale” in the female singer category was taken by Lucie Bíla in the competition which was called “Golden Nightingale” from 1962 until 1991. She was then crowned the overall winner due to the number of votes for her. This year, she took to the stage for the twentieth time to collect her statuette. “I am thrilled and I would like to enjoy this twentieth year for as long as possible,” said Bíla after accepting the award. Although she was wearing a simple dress by the fashion designer Taťána Kovaříková for the gala evening, she embellished it with expensive jewellery, the envy of many a woman that night.
There was also no luxury surprise in the music group category. Kabát collected the prize for the twelfth time, defending last year’s victory. “It is an honour, a privilege and a joy. Our fans have no idea how much this award means to us every year,” said the frontman Josef Vojtek. The whole luxury evening was held in the Karlín Musical Theatre and presented by Ondřej Sokol.
