We often get far too little nature nowadays. This may also be why the Czech Photo Centre came up with the idea last year to call a contest that will evaluate only photographs associated with nature. And so the zero year of the Czech Nature Photo competition was organised. Now, the first year has been announced!
From 5 April to 13 May, the nominees and other selected photographs from the current year of the contest will be exhibited at the Czech Photo Centre and subsequently at other locations across the Czech Republic, including the Prague Zoo. Last year, almost 500 photographers who sent in more than 3,000 luxury pictures participated in the contest.
Are you in Prague all year and think you don’t have the chance to photograph nature? No such excuses here. This year, Prague City Hall has announced a special category called Nature in Prague! There is no doubt that this will be the category we (Luxury Prague Life) pay most attention to.
The other categories are: Invertebrates, Czech agriculture and countryside, Czech forest, Reptiles, amphibians and underwater life, Birds, Mammals and Animals in human care. Additional, there will be a competition for the best photo of Czech nature.
This year’s jury will include Spanish biologist and top nature photographer Javier Aznara González de Ruedu, director of the Prague Zoo Miroslav Bobek, photographer Petr Bambousek, who has won awards in the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Sony World Photography Awards and Czech Press Photo contests, and Václav Šilha, whose exhibition On the Waves of Photography just opened at the Czech Photo Centre.
