The prizes were granted at a gala celebration in the evening of 27th March 2018 in the beautiful surroundings of the Estates Theatre in Prague. Of course the Best Of festival, held from 22. - 25. played its part here, having presented the best of the luxurious nominated work.
Was it perhaps benches for smart cities, pots made of glass, recycled clothing, samurai vases or the luxurious record player? It was really a tough call. To win among 97 authors was not an easy task.
Belarusian designer, Nastassia Aleinikava with her luxurious pieces took the Jewellery Designer category by storm. She became the centre of attention because of her jewellery, unusually named Voynich´s Manuscript, referring to a 15th century book and her extravagant collection of glasses, Utopia.
The rule is that the last-year winner, Grand Designer, undertakes the task of proposing the trophy for the upcoming awards ceremony. This year it was thus proposed by the deForm studio. "We wanted to capture the atmosphere and emotion of the awards ceremony, Czech Grand Design." It is a metal box with a button, containing audio tracks. Beautiful visual effect accentuated the playfulness, creativeness and mainly luxurious design. The theme of this-year´s ceremony was GML standing for Great Mad Love which inspired the set design of Tereza Rosalie Kladošová and Anna Štěpánková.
Designer of the year: Jan Čapek was re-elected for his mineral water bottle, Fatra
Graphic designer of the year: Tomáš Brousil, Matěj Chabera and Jakub Korouš. They well-deserved this prize for their novelty visual identity, logotype and packaging for the Primeros brand.

Manufacturer of the year: Again won by Rückl brand
Fashion designer: Lenka Vacková, who designed a collection from recycled textiles in collaboration with Klatex
Illustrator of the year: Jan Šrámek for illustrations for the Paneland exhibition
Discovery of the year: Geometr with the collection of copyright textiles Contrasts and Contexts
Hall of fame: Václav Cigler
