The men´s Moschino FW 2018 collection is a very courageous achievement indeed of the American designer, Jeremy Scott! Its key elements are latex, leather and genderless pieces.
Last year's Moschino FW 2017 collection was full of luxury colourful overalls and army-style elements. However, when you look at the one for this year it is clear that the American fashion designer, Jeremy Scott, decided to turn his attention elsewhere. He went for leather and latex with which he embellish overalls, gloves, hats, straps, underwear, but also the extravagant hoods!
If any fashion designer of pop culture is at the same time a fashion rebel, it is Jeremy Scott. In the creation of the collection he used the favourite genderless elements and created models that shifted the bridge between the sexes a little farther still. The designer himself said:
Maybe it is thanks to such views of the creative director that this collection showed less traditional male features.
So as not to look as though the designer decided to leave out all male items, let´s note those models that are still intended predominantly for men - luxury dinner suits and business suits!
Apart from extravagances the Italian fashion brand came up with these stylish pieces, tailored from high-quality and luxury fabrics. A simple piece here, meeting the characteristics of a black dinner suit was presented in the middle of the show. A shiny silver-green dinner suit, which appeared on the catwalk at the end of the show is excellent and trendy but rather resembles those produced by competitor Gucci some time ago.
And what do you say to the courageous and extravagant collection? Do you appreciate creativeness and courage of the rebellious designer or do you consider the models to be extravagance belonging only to the catwalk?
For starters, I have to fully agree with the main headline; because the word ´controversial´ here says it very diplomatically. To be honest, I do not know whether I should take this collection seriously. Where are those times when men were sexy because of their elegance. Whether it was a worker in a miller´s cap and vest or a rich trader in a bespoke business suit and elegant hat. Unfortunately, such fashion looks may now be seen only in films.
And where did the current Moschino fashion get to? I think it is a masquerade and castration of the male sex! This was literally a tragedy! One of the models demonstrates this point perfectly; he is wearing a corset and a transparent frilly dressing gown!
Yes I respect the gay community and I do not have the slightest problem with that, but it must be noted that the majority of us do not wish to meet in the streets of various cities men dressed up as characters from the clip Village People-YMCA (1978) or men attired as cabaret artist. This, unfortunately, cannot even be regarded as art...
